Friday's Child: Eric Hearthrob Cowell "Healthy and Handsome"

Got Your Gram? http://www.Kiddiegram.com

Simon Cowell's son Eric was born on Valentine's Day in New York City.

Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome.

Although Cowell tweeted the news  Mlle Kiddie is not going by his 17:45 time as he was flying from London to be at Lauren Silverman's side when she delivered. We're going with Yahoo's birth time of 5:45 pm.  Eric is named after Cowell's Dad. Silverman has an 8 year old son Adam.

Sun in Aquarius:
Independent-minded and strong-willed, Eric has his own ideas about how things should be done, and they often do not conform to any already-existing standards or patterns. In fact, he seems to positively delight in challenging custom and convention. Born with a strong need to experiment, he is drawn to the novel and unusual in people, ideas, fashions, and lifestyles. Innovation, originality, inventiveness, and discovering new or alternative ways of doing things are his trademark. Much flexibility, open-mindedness, and tolerance will be required of his parents, for he is likely to overturn all sorts of precedents in his own distinctly individual manner. His development may proceed in an erratic, zigzag sort of way. He will probably develop rapidly in some areas, and lag behind in others, and his timing tends to be somewhat different than the norm, so that comparing him to the "typical" or "average" child in the standard child-care manuals may be confusing or useless.

Eric has little regard for tradition and the authority of the past, and "That's the way it has always been done here" or "You will do it because I'm your Father, and I said so" just are not sufficient explanations for him. He is quite logical and intelligent, and he needs to have a clear reason for everything.

Eric is also quite social, and he shines when he is with other children - the more, the merrier. Inherently idealistic, democratic, and fair, he does not like to discriminate or to exclude anyone, and he may not even have a favorite playmate. ("Everyone is my friend.")  He maintains his independence and a certain detachment, even with his best friends. When he is with his buddies, he will often try to organize and coordinate everyone's activities so that each person gets a turn, and also so that everything happens as HE thinks it should. He usually has strong, fixed ideas about things.

Eric lets his head rule rather than his heart, and he needs to be encouraged to feel and empathize more. If he develops an emotional sensitivity towards others, he is likely to become a true humanitarian.

This astrological portrait of your child is intended to give you insight into his unique gifts and challenges. Much of a child's behavior which may puzzle or stymie his parents are quite normal, common "developmental stages" of childhood, and there are a number of fine books available on the subject which illuminate the predictable stages that children experience as they unfold. In addition to the universal patterns, each child is an individual with particular qualities, potentials, and needs, and an understanding of these can help you parent your child more wisely and effectively. Acceptance and appreciation for a child's basic nature, and an awareness of the places where there might be stress or difficulties for your child, can be important allies in your parenting.

You will find that the interpretation of your child's chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then he exhibits these opposite qualities at different times in his life. For example, a statement that he is highly sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each other; this means that he vacillates, and needs both sociability and solitude at different times.

ASCENDANT

The RISING SIGN in the birthchart (also known as the Ascendant) shows how this child faces life, his basic attitude or stance toward the world, the way he comes across, and how he appears to others.

Virgo Rising:

Eric has a quiet, humble, unassuming appearance, and he can easily be overlooked in a group of children, as he is not in the least flamboyant or dramatic or even especially assertive, at least on first impression. He has a rather intelligent demeanor, and often appears to be quietly observing and analyzing.

He is careful, cautious, and has an almost compulsive desire to do things "right" or perfectly. He may be especially particular about the appearance or the way he comes across which can make him seem rather self-conscious or inhibited. Generally, Eric is very contented NOT to be in the limelight; having too much attention focused on him, especially in a public setting, can make him very uncomfortable. In fact, self-criticism may well be one of his biggest demons, accompanied by the desire to be perfect which underlies it. As his parents, you need to be sure that you do not reinforce this tendency by expecting too much of him or having unreasonably high standards yourselves. Helping him to lighten up, worry less, relax more, and keep things in perspective, will be an ongoing challenge for you. He tends to obsess over the most minute details that most people would not even notice.

There is an up side, however, to his attention to details:  he can be a highly skillful artisan, with his ability to do fine, meticulous handiwork, such as needlework, building models, making crafts. Any hobby in which he uses his hands to create something useful can be very satisfying for him, and will also build his self-confidence. When he is able to do something really well, he feels good about himself.

He also has an innate sense of order and tidiness. He likes to categorize and classify and keep things in their place. A simple, orderly, and peaceful environment contributes a lot to his sense of well-being.

Asc. Opposition Sun:

Eric appears or comes across very differently than he feels himself to be at heart. If you read the description of his sun sign and compare it to the interpretation of his rising sign, you will note some basic contradictions, as if the person he seems to be (shown by the rising sign) is completely opposite in some ways to who he really is inside (as shown by the sun sign). He may swing back and forth between two opposite ways of behaving. People may be surprised to discover that he is really much different once you get to know him, than he first appears.

Asc. Conjunct Moon:

Eric emotions are right on the surface and can be seen just by looking at him. He communicates a great deal nonverbally through his posture, expressions, and looks. He also absorbs and reflects the moods and attitudes of people in his immediate environment. Often his emotional state is a direct reflection of a parent's, friend's, or the overall tone of the place he is in. He tends to take care of, protect or "mother" others along, and to want quite a lot of tender loving care and nurturing himself. At times, he demands or requires a lot support and understanding and if he receives it, he will hum along quite nicely.

Asc. Opposition Mercury:

Eric is very communicative, needs a lot of conversation, and solicits other people's ideas and opinions on just about everything. He can be argumentative at times, primarily for the purpose of drawing someone into a discussion. Matching his wits or debating with others may well be a favorite pastime.

Asc. Sextile Mars:

Eric acts as if he knows what he wants, and he does not back down when challenged. He asserts his desires and rights, and his friends learn to heed him when he states his point of view. Active, vital, and energetic, he is inclined to rush into situations without thinking. He gets impatient if he must sit quietly or wait for anything too long.

Asc. Opposition Neptune:

Eric tends to lack discrimination when it comes to other people. He idealizes his parents, friends, or others who make an impression on him, and he may be oblivious to their faults, or deceive himself regarding them. He is also very giving in relationship to others and must be gently guided not to let people take advantage of his sympathy.

SUN

The SUN in the birthchart represents who this child is at heart, his primary thrust in life, and what path he needs to follow in order to fulfill himself as a unique individual. It indicates who he is inside rather than the way he appears (which is shown more clearly by the Rising Sign).

Sun in 6th house:

Conscientiousness and earnestness about doing a good job enable Eric to take on responsibilities at an early age.  He enjoys acquiring skills and doing practical and functional things.  He likes to be useful.  Learning to operate or repair things around the house, to sew or weave or practice some other craft, or to give Mom or Dad a good foot rub will please and satisfy him. He's very interested in health-related matters--partly because his own health tends to be delicate.

Sun Conjunct Mercury:

Eric enjoys and needs to communicate, and he is apt to be an avid talker from an early age. Expect a continual stream of questions, comments, and conversation on every topic. You may need to encourage him to listen more, as he tends to be the more active, vocal participant in a discussion. He appreciates a lively, mentally stimulating environment with plenty to do and think about. Puzzles, word games, and books may be his favorite play things.

Sun Opposition Moon:

As you read the above interpretation of Eric's sun sign, and compare it to the description of his moon sign on the following page, you may note distinct differences and possibly contradictions. This is because there are different sides to him, and they may well conflict or pull him in opposite directions.

You will notice as he grows up that he befriends people who are very different or polar opposite to him in some basic ways. It is as if he needs other people to reflect the other side of him. (For instance, if he is very neat and precise, he will be drawn to people who are disorganized.)  Born around the time of the full moon, he is likely to be particularly active or strongly emotional each month when the moon is full.

Sun Square Saturn:

Eric needs a lot of warmth and loving acceptance from his parents, as he tends to be entirely too hard on himself, and to feel that others expect too much from him as well.

He may become rather rigid and self-restrained, as if he is afraid to step out of line or do the wrong thing, especially if he is raised with strict discipline or with high expectations and standards of conduct.

Eric seems to need to prove his worth to himself and others, rather than feeling that he is okay the way he is.

He feels good when he is learning and mastering practical or technical skills, or doing something useful. He has very good concentration.

Sun Trine Mars:

Eric is assertive and decisive, and he can stand on his own when he needs to. He takes initiative easily, and his playmates are inclined to follow his lead. Active and energetic, he cannot tolerate staying still for very long.

MERCURY

MERCURY represents thinking and reasoning processes, the way your child's mind works, his intellectual inclinations and way of communicating ideas.

Mercury in Aquarius:

Forward-looking and progressive in his thinking, Eric is interested in the latest scientific discoveries, new technologies, and the most daring, original, and experimental ideas in any area he studies. He also has an idealistic frame of mind, and is likely to be stubbornly opinionated on many topics.

Mercury in 6th house:

Eric will enjoy learning practical manual skills such as typing, sewing, carpentry, or computer operation, even when he's quite young.  Nimble with his hands and quick to master tools and techniques, he is an eager little apprentice.  He likes to be organized and can be critical or put off if others don't do things "just so."

Mercury Conjunct Neptune:

Eric is often absorbed in his imagination or creative fantasy, and he may seem distracted or uninterested in the mundane and practical aspects of the world. Dry or technical subjects that have no colorful or magical element do not hold his interest. He may be vague or unable to clearly articulate all of the things he knows or perceives. He is both artistic and mystical.

Mercury Square Saturn:

Eric has a serious mind and is likely to be very taciturn, reserved, and uncomfortable with light, superficial social conversation. He may be unsure of himself when it comes to expressing an opinion and may even stutter or be uncommonly quiet, as a young child.

His ability to concentrate and to study long and hard are his strong points.

He is interested in practical, concrete knowledge and skills and may have little use for learning subjects that have no real, immediate application.

Mercury Trine Mars:

Sharp-witted and quick at repartee, Eric enjoys lively discussion, debates, or intellectual sparring. He excels at games that require both skill and intelligence. He is likely to be quarrelsome, especially when he is bored.

Moon Opposition Mercury:

Eric seems to need quite a bit of conversation and give-and-take, and when he is upset, he needs to talk about it.

Writing his feelings down in a journal, letter, story or poem is a very good emotional outlet for him.

MOON

The MOON in the birthchart indicates how he deals with and expresses feelings, how he experiences the world on an emotional, feeling, non-verbal level, what his emotional needs are, and what he needs to feel secure, comfortable and at ease.

Moon in Leo:

Warm, sunny, cheerful, and something of a "ham," this child thrives on being the center of attention. He loves having an audience and he is likely to have some boisterous attention-grabbing techniques that are none too subtle, if he feels he is being ignored.

"Notice me!  Love me!  Tell me I'm wonderful!" may well be the underlying message of much of his behavior. He simply suffers if his special quality, his uniqueness, and his abilities are not noticed and appreciated. If he is given any encouragement at all, he will do his utmost to stand out, to be the best. He has a deep inner sense of nobility and pride and he very much needs respect, as well as the love and affection all children require. (Never ridicule or make fun of him, especially in public.)  Given plenty of praise and love, no child will be more devoted, adoring, wholeheartedly loving, and affectionate than he is.

On the other hand, if he is lavished with adulation and made too much of, he is likely to become rather narcissistic, and to have a lop-sided sense of his own importance, so you will need to achieve a fine balance.

There is a natural performer in him, and he needs to have a medium through which to express his dramatic, creative side, a place where he can really shine out.

Also, he likes to make his own choices and decisions, and this should be allowed for as much as possible. Try not to engage him in power struggles over matters that are really not so important. He can be intensely persistent and willful!

Moon in 12th house:

Eric is a mystical, sensitive soul who may have unusual dreams or psychic gifts.  He feels undercurrents, hears the unspoken feelings and wishes of those around him, and "soaks up" the emotional atmosphere.  If he's unhappy "for no reason," he may be sensing someone else's turmoil or sadness.  His need for periods of solitude and quiet must be honored, because he needs this time to recharge and regroup.

Moon Square Saturn:

Shyness and emotional reserve can cause difficulties for Eric at times. Highly sensitive to being excluded, he seems to need continual loving reinforcement and assurance that he belongs and is wanted. He may develop a cool, aloof, unemotional exterior to mask his vulnerability, but much of this can be mitigated if he is given a lot of support in his early years.

Moon Sextile Mars:

Eric enjoys rambunctious, rough-and-tumble games, and though he does not usually look for a fight,, he will stand up for himself when he needs to. He has a lot of restless energy and becomes irritable if he is cooped up for too long.

VENUS

VENUS represents the way your child gives and receives affection, makes friends, and socializes. It also indicates artistic or creative inclinations.

Venus in Capricorn:

Eric takes friendship seriously and is careful about showing his affection until he is certain the other person is trustworthy and reliable. You have to win his friendship or prove yourself to him. Once he takes you into his heart, he is a loyal, faithful, true-blue friend.

Venus in 5th house:

If Eric shows any inclination toward art or creative expression, he should be encouraged to develop his gifts in these areas.  He also enjoys activities that require style, grace, and beauty, (e.g., figure skating or dancing).  He may, however, prefer recreations that are less strenuous.

Venus Conjunct Pluto:

Eric's feelings are so strong and he becomes so deeply, intensely bonded to the people he loves, that he often loses all perspective about them. He is prone to jealousy or to try to control his friends, and he needs to learn that he will not lose their affection if he gives them their freedom.

MARS

MARS represents your child's drive, ambition, will, energy level, and ability to assert himself.

Mars in Libra:

Eric hesitates to act decisively and assertively unless he has the support and approval of others. Sometimes he is very pushy or argumentative in his effort to get others to agree with him and give him the go-ahead.

Mars in 3rd house:

Eric's assertiveness takes the form of argument, sharp-tongued criticism, or intellectual competition.  One never seems to win debates with him, because he thrives on matching his wits against another's.  If he has siblings, he may be the one who initiates the bickering and petty squabbling.  Yelling at him only feeds the flame, but parents can learn (and can teach him to resolve conflicts amicably.  If he believes that the resolution was his idea, it might work!

JUPITER

JUPITER in the birth chart reveals the child's future aspirations, and how he seeks to grow and improve himself.  It also indicates areas of natural confidence, success, or "luck."

Jupiter in Cancer:

Family and continuity with the past are very important to Eric, and no matter what his aspirations, he will never willingly grow away from his people.  He will want to learn as much as possible about his family tree, his origins and ancestors.  Being a part of an ongoing tradition--part of a tribe, so to speak--gives him confidence and strength.  Visiting the homes of distant relatives would delight him.

Even though he's devoted to his family, his emotional generosity and sympathies extend beyond his immediate circle.  He wants everyone to be "family," and will gladly accept schoolmates, camp buddies, and friends as such.  His nurturing, protective feelings are strong and he's very caring toward other children (especially younger ones) and toward pets--indeed, toward anyone in need of support.

Jupiter in 11th house:

Eric enjoys group activities and will benefit greatly from participating in the Boy Scouts, on athletic teams, in a little theatre group, in the 4-H Club, or in other clubs that revolve around a particular interest or talent of his.  He very much enjoys being a member of the team, and doing his part.  Some of his most worthwhile friendships will spring from these involvements, and his self-confidence blossoms through them as well.

He is also idealistic about what people can do when they band together, and he'd feel very good about participating in, say, walkathons for charity or local environmental groups that encourage kids to make a difference in the world.

Jupiter Opposition Pluto:

Eric is quite a zealot (at least about certain things) and he'll be passionately dedicated to his causes and beliefs.  He seeks to grow through intensity and destroying perceived limitations. Especially in youth, he may be pushy and self-righteous - or just very sure of his convictions.

Jupiter Square Uranus:

Eric seeks to grow through total freedom.  Spontaneous, restless, and eager, he will immediately say yes to almost any festive plan or adventure presented.  He loves to have complete freedom to explore and decide for himself what he thinks, believes, and what makes him happy.  Play will be an important part of his life, even as an adult.

SATURN

The position of SATURN in your child's birth chart indicates the areas in which he is especially insecure, about which he is most serious, and/or in which he works hardest or is hardest on himself.  It also reveals those weaknesses which, through effort, may become his greatest strengths.

Saturn in Scorpio:

Any struggles, fears, or troublesome feelings that Eric encounters are apt to be kept to himself, but perceptive parents and other caregivers can detect them--usually from his brooding silences or his withdrawal from the social life of the family. This secretiveness may work against him by intensifying his turmoil.  Difficult unexpressed emotions, such as jealousy over the birth of a new sibling or anger at a parent, can grow out of all proportion.  At times, therefore, he'll feel misunderstood: "Nobody really knows me."  The truth is that it can be hard to get to know him, because he doesn't readily trust others.  If he has even one confidante--a parent, an aunt or uncle, or another trustworthy adult who will not judge, shame, or "thou-shalt-not" his feelings--it will go a long way toward diffusing his tensions.  If not, he is likely to suffer from guilt for his strong, but essentially normal, emotions and reactions.

Saturn in 3rd house:

Being criticized or humiliated for expressing his opinions and thoughts is one of  Eric's fears.  Thus he may be quiet and hesitant to speak up.  If he has siblings, they mustn't be allowed to tease or belittle him, because this will push him further into himself.

MOON'S NODES

The Lunar Nodes are points formed by the moon's orbit around the Earth intersecting with the Earth's path around the Sun. These sensitive "power points" in our child's chart give vital information about those areas of life experience that he will instinctively be drawn to in order to fulfill his life purposes, as well as qualities he needs to develop and express in order to do so. They show where he can be most successful as he unfolds his natural talent

North Node in 3rd House in Scorpio:

Eric's life path involves gathering, sharing, and exchanging information and knowledge with others. He may evolve onto a wonderful teacher and communicator because he loves to learn and then to teach others. Even at a young age he may surprise his elders with his wisdom if he is allowed and encouraged to freely speak his mind. He enjoys making friendly connections to anyone in his immediate surroundings, from the postman to the folks next door. Youthful entrepreneurial ventures such as selling lemonade, doing errands, or having a newspaper route allow him to exchange information or connect with the people around him.

The qualities Eric needs in order to succeed in this endeavor are wholeheartedness, deep feeling, and following his instincts.

GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES

The slow-moving planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto represent the ideals, changes, and impulses of an entire generation. While the descriptions below may or may not describe your child as an individual, they will tell you about the climate of the times and the underlying issues and challenges of your child's age group.

For instance, when Neptune (which represents one's spiritual ideals, dreams, aspirations, fantasies and illusions) passed through the egalitarian and harmony-loving sign of Libra (from 1943-1957), the children who would grow into the "flower children," hippies, and supporters of the peace movement were born. Not every person born during that time became a hippie or identified themselves with the peace movement, but certainly they were affected by the feeling-tone and ideals of their age group and the times they grew up in. Thus, the following information is intended to give you insight into the important motifs and issues of your child's generation.

URANUS indicates where the impulse for change, innovation, liberation from the past, and experimentation with new forms is the strongest. It is where the status quo is disrupted or uprooted to make way for something new. Sudden inspiration and invention are also represented by Uranus.

Uranus in Aries:

FREEDOM for the individual is of utmost importance to this age group. They are some of the most extreme when it comes to following their own inner spark as opposed to adhering to the rules or guidelines imposed by outside authority. They are infused with a powerful spirit of adventurous freedom, self reliance, and revolution, and are in no way passive if their personal freedoms are impinged upon. Many will be seen as incendiary troublemakers.

Uranus in 8th house:

Eric likes to explore matters that are secret or hidden and he's not averse to opening up discussions on topics elders, parents, or teachers consider taboo.  He may shake things up by exposing skeletons in the closet or bringing up difficult topics without even intending to. Parents or other caregivers must be careful not to shame him when he hits a nerve! Breakthroughs and discoveries in science also hold a fascination for him.

Uranus Square Pluto:

Born during a period of massive change and disruption in the world, Eric is part of a group of souls destined to undergo radical severance from many of the old ways of life.  Because of this, many of them will hold tightly to whatever security they can find, and be quite resistant to change in their worlds.  Some, however, will be deeply iconoclastic and instigators of further transformation of the society they are a part of.

NEPTUNE represents the quest for the ideal, the dream, for something more sublime. The sign it is passing through at the time of one's birth colors one's spiritual aspirations and ideals, and also indicates where the desire to escape reality, to fantasize, deceive oneself, and become lost in illusion is the strongest.

Neptune in Pisces:

Profoundly mystical forces are washing over the collective psyche of this group. The life of the soul becomes paramount. Water also becomes a primary concern. Healing waters, fountains, and springs with supernatural powers, as well as being "washed" with the Holy Spirit may play important roles.

Neptune in 7th house:

Eric's hopes, dreams, and fantasies are often projected on to other people.  He may be enthralled with a new friend, seeing only this person's special and wonderful qualities, then become disillusioned when the other doesn't live up to his image.  He may also be drawn to people he believes need saving, like the forlorn child who is new to the neighborhood or the social misfit that others shun, and he can be endlessly giving.  In time he will learn to be more objective and balanced in his perspective on others. Parents and others in his life who model good boundaries and healthy relationships can help himEricher in this regard.

PLUTO in the birth chart indicates a process of deep change, transformation, and renewal, often through destruction or confrontation with darkness.  This is a process that takes place in society as well as in individuals.  Pluto's position in the birth chart shows where one is compulsive, extreme, or learning key life lessons.

Pluto in Capricorn:

Those born during these years (2008-2023) struggle to transform corruption, greed, and the control of power and natural resources in the world around them. Large, impersonal institutions and the heavy handed authoritarianism that breaks them up will be challenged by these children as they grow up. They will be profoundly influenced by witnessing the way power is wielded by their fathers and other authorities they encounter. Cynicism and upheaval may result if integrity, wisdom, and a positive use of masculine strength is not modeled for these children.

Pluto in 5th house:

Eric's intensity and fervor when it comes to play is unusual. He can become completely engrossed for long periods of time, and if he's competitive by nature (as indicated by other factors in his birth chart) he may be far too focused on winning.  It all seems like life or death to him Eric's creative drive is very strong, even compulsive at times, and while he should be encouraged to express himself, relaxation and fun should be a part of it as well.
