When we first posted something on the Kiddiegram blog we were unsure whether her Moon was in Pisces or in Aries.

Ella Bleu and You

Ella was born April 3, 2000. Her sun-sign is Aries Her moon sign, depending upon what time of the day it was when she was born is either a Moon in Pisces or a Moon in Aries. Lord Kiddie suspects she's got a Moon in Pisces, which is a very feeling compassionate moon. Here's a story her Dad John Travolta told about her:

My daughter came up to me and asked, "Daddy, what's your favorite book?" I told her that I used to love To Kill a Mockingbird, and she said, "No, but what's your favorite book now?" Then she patted me on the arm and said, "It's okay, you have a lot to do

Lord Kiddie was mistaken. Ella's got a Moon in Aries

This astrological portrait of your child is intended to give you insight into her unique gifts and challenges. Much of a child's behavior which may puzzle or stymie her parents are quite normal, common "developmental stages" of childhood, and there are a number of fine books available on the subject which illuminate the predictable stages that children experience as they unfold. In addition to the universal patterns, each child is an individual with particular qualities, potentials, and needs, and an understanding of these can help you parent your child more wisely and effectively. Acceptance and appreciation for a child's basic nature, and an awareness of the places where there might be stress or difficulties for your child, can be important allies in your parenting.

You will find that the interpretation of your child's chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then she exhibits these opposite qualities at different times in her life. For example, a statement that she is highly sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each other; this means that she vacillates, and needs both sociability and solitude at different times.

ASCENDANT

The RISING SIGN in the birthchart (also known as the Ascendant) shows how this child faces life, her basic attitude or stance toward the world, the way she comes across, and how she appears to others.

Gemini Rising:

Ella is inclined to be slight of build, with a quick, restless, wiry body that seems to be in constant motion. Playful, alert, intelligent, and tremendously curious and inquisitive, she is eager to get out and about, to meet people, and to interact with the world as much as possible. She has a light, frivolous side. She loves to play, and she will always have a childlike eagerness to learn new things or to try something "just for the experience."  She can easily be distracted from something you do not wish her to have by showing her something new or introducing a different idea to her. She loves surprises, guessing games, quizzes, and the like. She tends to bounce from one activity to the next and she can be exhausting to keep pace with. She also changes her mind with amazing frequency. You may need to insist that she follows through or finishes one thing before moving on to the next.

Language and communication are her primary mode of self-expression, and in her later years she is likely to be a vivacious and witty conversationalist, a salesperson, spokesperson, interviewer, or teacher. Her gift for gab can be somewhat annoying to a harried parent, unless you are equally social and verbal and enjoy having a running conversation throughout the day.

She is more mental than physical, and she may not want to attend to the needs of her physical body. She tends to eat lightly and she would probably eat on the run if you would let her. She also does not usually want to give in to sleep either, since she is naturally a very alert and awake person.

This is a child that can be reasoned with at a young age. She is logical and intellectual and you must appeal to her reason rather than her emotions in order to get your point across. She also has a very comic side to her and is likely to delight you with her imitations and mimicry. Wit and humor are two ways she responds to any situation.

Asc. Sextile Sun:

Ella likes to be noticed and to make her presence felt wherever she is. She enjoys performing in public, being chosen as a leader or representative in student government, or in other ways standing out and showing what she can do.

Asc. Square Mercury:

Quick-witted and nimble in both mind and body, Ella is apt to be rather restless and to need to move about, talk and ask questions, and experience as much of the world as she can. She may appear nervous or unsettled at times. She is also vociferous about her ideas and opinions, and she is more inclined to speak out than to listen receptively to what others have to say.

Asc. Trine Uranus:

Ella likes to change her appearance and personal style often, not wanting to be stuck in a rut. She may appear avant-garde, unusual, or unconventional, and she is not inclined to follow anyone else's lead. She is a free spirit.

Asc. Opposition Pluto:

Ella is inclined to have unusually close, deep, and intense personal relationships, and sometimes you may feel that the people she chooses for friends are not good for her, or that she and her friends are too attached to one another. Possessiveness, dominance, or compulsiveness about certain people is possible. In relationships, it is usually all or nothing for her, and you are unlikely to change this about her. However, you may need to teach her to respect others' rights and to not seek to control the people around her quite so much.

SUN

The SUN in the birthchart represents who this child is at heart, her primary thrust in life, and what path she needs to follow in order to fulfill herself as a unique individual. It indicates who she is inside rather than the way she appears (which is shown more clearly by the Rising Sign).

Sun in Aries:

At heart, Ella has a strong need to act boldly and vigorously in living her life according to her own standards (and no one else's!). She has a strong competitive drive, thrives on challenge, and needs to be first in some way. It is hard for her to accept a secondary position, as she prefers either to lead or to go off alone and do her own thing. She does not compromise or make concessions easily.

Enthusiasm, initiative, self-reliance, courage, and an eager, positive attitude toward life are her strong points. Learning to direct her abundant energy into productive channels will be a challenge for her and for her parents. She requires a lot of physical activities and outlets; otherwise, she is likely to become very frustrated and disruptive at times. Athletics are a natural arena for her, but her drive may just as easily be directed into an intellectual sphere, in which case she will strive to be at the top of her class. Being the very best and triumphing over challenges is what she is aiming for, and she takes her successes or failures very much to heart. She needs to have some area in which she excels.

She will need to be encouraged to finish what she starts, to follow through, and to develop stamina and persistence, because sometimes she will enthusiastically begin a project only to drop it once the initial rush of excitement wanes.

She has a great sense of the drama of Good and Evil. The stories of Robin Hood, the Knights of the Round Table, or other, more modern versions of the Brave and Noble Hero doing battle with Evil Forces, have a powerful appeal for her.

She admires valor and decisive action, can be quite aggressive, and is not averse to a good fight. As an adult she is likely to fight for what she believes in.

She can be a difficult child to raise, especially if compliance, obedience, and submissiveness to parental authority are strongly emphasized in her home. She fiercely resists conforming to others ideas and ways. Also, she tends to be selfish in an unthinking, unintentional way. She is often so intent on carrying out her own desires that she is oblivious to how she affects other people. Unless other factors in her chart (such as the moon sign or the rising sign, or important planetary configuration) indicate otherwise, she may be difficult to socialize.

Her manners and her awareness of other people's needs and feelings may be underdeveloped. She will need to be reminded (gently and often) to take others into account.

Sun in 11th house:

Ella's social world and friendships are extremely important to her.  She shines in groups and in cooperative endeavors and is apt to feel at loose ends when left to her own devices.  For instance, growing up in a fairly remote rural setting might be very nourishing and inspiring for some children, but for her it is limiting and probably boring.  Teams, clubs, and other groups which she and her peers can join are her cup of tea.

Sun Trine Pluto:

Ella throws herself completely and wholeheartedly into whatever interests her, and she tends to go to extremes. She is courageous and wants to go all the way with any experience.

She will quietly, persistently work her own will, regardless of outside approval, and she can be subtly domineering.

She has a strong interest in mysterious, hidden things (like Egyptian mummies, or what really goes on in the center of the earth, etc.).

MERCURY

MERCURY represents thinking and reasoning processes, the way your child's mind works, her intellectual inclinations and way of communicating ideas.

Mercury in Pisces:

Ella's mind is intuitive and imaginative rather than strictly logical. More of an artist or poet than a scientist, she daydreams a lot, and it may be hard for her to articulate what she perceives and thinks about. Dry technical subjects hold no appeal for her.

Mercury in 10th house:

Education is extremely important to Ella, because she's ambitious and will be drawn to an intellectual career, one that involves presenting ideas and concepts.  She may start planning her college curriculum in elementary school!  Having an elder who takes a special interest in her education will make a significant impact on her life.

Mercury Square Pluto:

Ella has strong opinions and convictions, and she can be rather zealous to convert people to her way of thinking. Sometimes she is gripped with an idea and cannot let go of it. Her mind is very deep, probing and analytical, and she can make other people rather uncomfortable with her scrutiny. Solving mysteries and unearthing the truth about anything secretive or hidden strongly appeals to her.

Mercury Sextile Saturn:

Ella's mental concentration, and her ability to discipline and focus her mind even on tedious details or technical subjects, is quite good. She is organized and orderly.

MOON

The MOON in the birthchart indicates how she deals with and expresses feelings, how she experiences the world on an emotional, feeling, non-verbal level, what her emotional needs are, and what she needs to feel secure, comfortable and at ease.

Moon in Aries:

High spirited and lively, this child needs action and she loves to be moving. She is attracted to anything with speed and energy, and to anything that involves challenge or competition (like running a race). She does things quickly, sometimes carelessly, and she hates to wait for anything. She can be very temperamental and impatient if the pace is too slow, and she gets frustrated with herself when she cannot master a task right away. She wants very much to be independent. She also wants very much to win, to be the first, to be the best.

She can be bossy and domineering, is something of a fighter, and will passionately defend the people she loves or the causes she believes in.

She is inclined to sudden bursts of anger or irritability, especially when overstimulated by her environment (too much noise and excitement, television, etc.), or confined for too long (as in a long car ride). Outdoor activity and physical play is very essential.

She may be a fitful, restless sleeper or adamantly resist going to bed at night, especially in her youngest years.

Emotionally she may seem quite self-sufficient, as she dislikes depending on others' help. Sometimes she acts angry or upset, when underneath she is really feeling afraid or hurt or when she is needing comfort or reassurance. You may have to see past her "fireworks display" and probe a little to understand what is really going on with her.

Sometimes she simply insists on "doing her own thing" and she may not fit in or conform.

Moon in 11th house:

Ella feels at home when she belongs to a group, a club, or a team of some sort--an organization that serves as a second family.  She thrives on group activities--such as a church youth club or a scout troop--in which she can develop long-term friendships.  Such involvements will serve her best if they emphasize cooperation, support, belonging, and acceptance rather than competition.

Moon Conjunct Venus:

Ella has a very loving, sweet disposition, and she needs a lot of affection and sympathetic understanding from her loved ones. She is soft-hearted, nurturing, and protective toward other children, pets, and her family. Her relationship with her mother is likely to be especially close. Warm family ties and the shelter of a loving home will always be important to her, and she is likely to be the peacemaker in her home.

VENUS

VENUS represents the way your child gives and receives affection, makes friends, and socializes. It also indicates artistic or creative inclinations.

Venus in Pisces:

Soft-hearted and compassionate, Ella's sympathy inclines her to try to take care of people or to befriend those that others ridicule. It is very hard for her to say no to a friend. Any unkindness really offends and hurts her feelings.

Venus in 10th house:

Popularity is important to Ella, and she wants to be known for her beauty, attractiveness, style, or artistic gifts. Interest in a career in entertainment or the arts may be apparent at an early age.  She knows instinctively how to please the public, and so will be favorably received and esteemed.

MARS

MARS represents your child's drive, ambition, will, energy level, and ability to assert herself.

Mars in Taurus:

Ella has trouble getting started, and she may seem slow or sluggish at times, but once she gets going, she has excellent stamina and staying power. Her energy level is strong and even. She is likely to be extremely obstinate when you try to force her to do something against her will.

Mars in 12th house:

Asserting her own will or winning at the expense of someone else doesn't come easily or naturally to Ella.  She may bottle up her aggressive energies, causing her to feel very vulnerable or suffer from a lack of self-confidence.  She may also act covertly rather than openly and directly.  She prefers to work behind the scenes, but she needs to be encouraged to overcome her hesitancy and her fears about asserting herself.  She should not, however, be pushed into becoming more outgoing than her natural tendencies allow.

Mars Conjunct Jupiter:

Ella has a lot of confidence and belief in herself, and she tends to aim high. She is sometimes overly optimistic about what she can achieve and will bite off more than she can chew. She is always ready to "go for it." She has an abundance of energy.

Mars Square Neptune:

Ella is easily discouraged in the face of opposition, and she is more likely to submit or withdraw rather than hold her ground and fight. She needs to build up her physical health, stamina, and self confidence. Try to find areas where she can experience successes and be effective, and in which she does not have to withstand great competitive pressures.

JUPITER

JUPITER in the birth chart reveals the child's future aspirations, and how she seeks to grow and improve herself.  It also indicates areas of natural confidence, success, or "luck."

Jupiter in Taurus:

Ella's future aspirations undoubtedly include a life of material comforts and pleasure, for she deeply appreciates the natural, sensual world--from soft fabrics next to the skin, to "the world's creamiest chocolate," to simply being outdoors in the sunshine on a perfect spring day.  She also has a great love for the earth and is inspired by communication with nature. Having a garden to tend or taking a leisurely walk (preferably barefooted!) will often revitalize her spirits when nothing else will.  She thrives on the land, and if she doesn't live where trees and fresh air abound, she needs to visit the countryside frequently.

To develop confidence in herself and trust in life, she needs to be given the freedom to unfold slowly, and not be compared to those whiz kids who seem to excel at every lesson, activity, sport, and social event that can be packed into their calendars. This isn't Ella!  By focusing on those activities that give her pleasure and patiently building her skills step by step over time, she will succeed in her own fashion.  She seeks to grow in slow, natural stages like a flower opening bit by bit.

Jupiter in 12th house:

Ella doesn't need to be made much of in order to feel good about herself.  In fact, she's apt to shy away from the limelight, and thus may not receive the credit and personal recognition she deserves.  She likes to help people or other creatures that need her, but prefers to do it anonymously.

In her class at school, she may want to succeed and excel, but not at the expense of the other children.  She doesn't understand vicious competition.  Her teachers may neglect her because she doesn't push herself forward or toot her own horn, and in the family she may well be the "good" one who is similarly overlooked.  People may coax her to be more outgoing or even more self-serving, but she's actually apt to be extraordinarily "lucky" because of her gentleness.

She may also express a pronounced interest in spirituality, her inner life, and such things as angels, saints, dreams, miracles, and other spiritual phenomena.

Jupiter Conjunct Saturn:

Ella is apt to have a very constuctive relationship with her father or, if not, to seek out other fatherly figures to guide and teach her how to make her way in the world.  Positive male influences are definitely something she will seek out and find. She feels empowered when she is taught practical skills she will one day need in the adult world, and would enjoy seeing her parents in their work setting.  Given encouragement, she would be one of the most conscientious workers around!

Jupiter Square Neptune:

Ella believes in dreaming very big, the sky's the limit, and it may take her quite some time before she learns to temper her huge idealism and optimism with a dose of practical realism.  Unless other astrological factors lend some caution and prudence, she's apt to go overboard in just about everything she does including her generosity and giving.  Part of how she seeks growth and meaning is to help other people. This child tends to be a "bleeding heart".

SATURN

The position of SATURN in your child's birth chart indicates the areas in which she is especially insecure, about which she is most serious, and/or in which she works hardest or is hardest on herself.  It also reveals those weaknesses which, through effort, may become her greatest strengths.

Saturn in Taurus:

Certainty and predictability can be inordinately important to Ella.  Especially when she feels threatened (perhaps with changes in the family, moving to a new home, entering a new school, or making other transitions), she will cling tenaciously to what she has--be it a friend, a pet, a possession, or anything known and familiar.  It is difficult for her to change and adapt or to embrace anything new if it requires relinquishing something she already has.  She may feel some underlying lack, a vague suspicion that there's not enough of what she values to go around, and so she'd better hang onto whatever she has.  She'll save and squirrel away money and other things for that rainy day. When she doesn't feel that her world is secure, she may become stingy, miserly, materialistic, or unwilling to share the affection of her friends or loved ones.

She tends to stick with things even long after they've ceased to serve her purposes.  Misplaced loyalty or an inability to imagine something better can trap her in a hobby, a job, or a relationship.  One of the most helpful things a parent can do is encourage her to develop healthy habits, because once a habit is established, she will retain it for a very long time.

Saturn in 12th house:

Strange, nameless, largely imaginary fears and worries will beset Ella at times.  She may be easily discouraged or daunted for reasons that are difficult to pinpoint.  Rather than discounting her insecurities as silly or inconsequential, friends and family should encourage her to draw, paint, or write about her fears. This process of "making friends with the bogeyman" can be very beneficial as a way of giving her control of her own imagination and "taming" her monsters.

Saturn Square Uranus:

This child has a definite rebellious streak, plain and simple! Even when she's not trying to, she often disrupts the status quo in some way because that's part of her purpose to instigate, challenge oppression and outmoded ways, and bring about change in the world.  Parents may receive the brunt of her discontent though, especially the turbulence of adolescence.  Sometimes a sympathetic parent can help help her sort out her conflictual feelings by LISTENING (never imposing solutions) and respecting her iconoclastic opinions.

MOON'S NODES

The Lunar Nodes are points formed by the moon's orbit around the Earth intersecting with the Earth's path around the Sun. These sensitive "power points" in our child's chart give vital information about those areas of life experience that she will instinctively be drawn to in order to fulfill her life purposes, as well as qualities she needs to develop and express in order to do so. They show where she can be most successful as she unfolds her natural talent

North Node in 3rd House in Leo:

Ella's life path involves gathering, sharing, and exchanging information and knowledge with others. She may evolve onto a wonderful teacher and communicator because she loves to learn and then to teach others. Even at a young age she may surprise her elders with her wisdom if she is allowed and encouraged to freely speak her mind. She enjoys making friendly connections to anyone in her immediate surroundings, from the postman to the folks next door. Youthful entrepreneurial ventures such as selling lemonade, doing errands, or having a newspaper route allow her to exchange information or connect with the people around her.

The qualities Ella needs in order to succeed in this endeavor are belief in herself and the willingness to following her own heart, rather than concerning herself with what her peers want or think about her. A healthy dose of "selfishness" is in her own, and ultimately everyone else's, best interests.

GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES

The slow-moving planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto represent the ideals, changes, and impulses of an entire generation. While the descriptions below may or may not describe your child as an individual, they will tell you about the climate of the times and the underlying issues and challenges of your child's age group.

For instance, when Neptune (which represents one's spiritual ideals, dreams, aspirations, fantasies and illusions) passed through the egalitarian and harmony-loving sign of Libra (from 1943-1957), the children who would grow into the "flower children," hippies, and supporters of the peace movement were born. Not every person born during that time became a hippie or identified themselves with the peace movement, but certainly they were affected by the feeling-tone and ideals of their age group and the times they grew up in. Thus, the following information is intended to give you insight into the important motifs and issues of your child's generation.

URANUS indicates where the impulse for change, innovation, liberation from the past, and experimentation with new forms is the strongest. It is where the status quo is disrupted or uprooted to make way for something new. Sudden inspiration and invention are also represented by Uranus.

Uranus in Aquarius:

This age group (1996-2004) is highly progressive, humanitarian, broad and global in its perspective. Universal concerns and international relations come to the fore as they seek to change, revolutionize, or invent new and better ways to relate and cooperate on a mass level. They may overturn or ignore individual rights and meaningful traditions in their quest for new and better ways for society as a whole to function.

Uranus in 9th house:

Freethinking and interested in all areas of new, innovative thought, Ella will be drawn to some fairly unorthodox ideas.  She's experimenting in the area of philosophy and religion, and needs to think for herself when it comes to the Big Questions (Why are we here?  What is it all about?).  She strongly resists being told what to believe.  Travel to exciting places also plays a role in formulating her own unique view of life.

NEPTUNE represents the quest for the ideal, the dream, for something more sublime. The sign it is passing through at the time of one's birth colors one's spiritual aspirations and ideals, and also indicates where the desire to escape reality, to fantasize, deceive oneself, and become lost in illusion is the strongest.

Neptune in Aquarius:

This group harbors great hopes for world unity and universal brother and sisterhood. An inner group impulse toward collective awakening and a strongly futuristic, visionary, evolutionary "dream". On the other hand, increasing globalization and impersonalization of daily life is strongly at work in their lives. How to contribute to the whole without becoming a cog in the machine is their quest.

Neptune in 9th house:

Ella is very much a spiritual seeker all her life and she may travel widely as part of her quest for the grail of wisdom. She will enjoy studying and dreaming about faraway places, the more exotic and unreachable the better.  Even as a child, she instinctively understands the interconnectedness of all life, and she has very high ideals.  Sometimes her spiritual beliefs interfere with a clear perception of what actually is.  She can overlook the obvious!

PLUTO in the birth chart indicates a process of deep change, transformation, and renewal, often through destruction or confrontation with darkness.  This is a process that takes place in society as well as in individuals.  Pluto's position in the birth chart shows where one is compulsive, extreme, or learning key life lessons.

Pluto in Sagittarius:

For those born at this time, the order of business is the destruction of old, limiting concepts, philosophies, religious forms, and ideas about God or the nature of the Universe. At the same time, religious fanatics, extremists, and evangelical fundamentalists of many persuasions are likely to rise up quite strongly. There may be much conflict between those with powerful convictions of one kind or another.

Pluto in 6th house:

This child is apt to come into her vocation at a young age, to have a strong sense of mission about her life's work.  This may manifest as unusual interests or hobbies that she pursues consistently through her childhood years, and it will reflect some of the qualities described above.
