Jupiter in 2nd house:

Money and material advantages matter quite a lot to Donald, and because he will settle for only the finest quality, that's what he'll attain.  (Parents may sigh when he insists on designer apparel or the most expensive pair of shoes.)  He'll also want to give the most generous presents, even to casual acquaintances who might invite him to their birthday parties.

While generally "lucky" with finances, he may be wasteful or irresponsible with his money as a youngster, because he's sure "there's plenty more where that came from."  Teaching him a little discipline along with that faith will be helpful to him in the long run.

Jupiter Trine Uranus:

Donald is apt to be very "lucky", especially when he trusts his instincts and intuition.  He has an excellent sense of timing and an uncanny knack of showing up at the right place and the right time. Because he is enthusiastic and open minded he attracts opportunities to go places (both literally and figuratively) that more conservative family members will never see.  Dancing, music, and other exuberant, joyful activities are important to him all his life.

ASCENDANT

The RISING SIGN in the birth chart (also known as the Ascendant) shows how this child faces life, his basic attitude or stance toward the world, the way he comes across, and how he appears to others.

Leo Rising:

The desire to be unique, to stand out, to be Somebody Special, is very pronounced in Donald. Creating a favorable impression on others is very important to him, and he may seem inordinately concerned with his appearance, having the "right" clothes, and in general presenting a proud face to the world. He radiates a warm, vibrant energy that does make other people notice him. He seems strong, centered, and confident, and he makes a powerful impact on his environment. He may well have a certain dignity or regal bearing that commands respect from others. He likes to do things on a grand, royal scale, and he disdains pettiness. He will be known for his generosity of spirit.

Donald has an inherently creative, colorful, or dramatic manner which simply cannot be ignored. He tends to come across in an exaggerated or theatrical way which can be either funny and appealing, or rather overbearing. He does not very much like to share the spotlight with others, and he is likely to try to blatantly or subtly upstage anyone who is receiving attention. Dress-up games, putting on plays or puppet shows, and similar entertainments are likely to be among his favorite activities. He likes to express himself boldly. He does not just want to read a story; he wants to act it out. He is quite a performer, and he has an exuberant, lively, enthusiastic quality that is likely to last his whole life.

Strong-willed and proud, Donald dislikes taking orders. A pliant, submissive, always-agreeable child he will never be. He needs firm, consistent, and strong discipline at times, but it must be done with some regard for his feelings and his pride. If he ever loses respect for you, it will be next to impossible to have a cooperative, harmonious relationship with him.

Asc. Conjunct Mars:

Frank, forthright, and direct, Donald makes his presence and his will known very clearly. He is inclined to act first and think later. Decisiveness and initiative are his gifts; rashness or insensitivity to other people's needs and desires may be his downfall.

He appears self-confident and brave; others are inclined to follow his lead or at least to leave him alone to do what he wills.

SUN

The SUN in the birthchart represents who this child is at heart, his primary thrust in life, and what path he needs to follow in order to fulfill himself as a unique individual. It indicates who he is inside rather than the way he appears (which is shown more clearly by the Rising Sign).

Sun in Gemini:

Restless, changeable, extremely inquisitive, bright, active, and always eager to see or learn something new, this child is likely to keep you on the go, delighting you with his intelligence and playful wit, and possibly wearing you out with his seemingly endless need for entertainment, mental stimulation, and interaction.

He is quite a social creature, is apt to be an early and avid talker, and he loves to converse.

He is a very mental creature, basically, and he has a keen interest in words, language, ideas, communicating, telling and hearing stories, and learning about the world in all of its fascinating variety. Books and puzzles may well be his favorite playthings. He does tend to flit from one activity to the next, however, and his concentration and attention span may be quite short. He grasps concepts quickly and is easily bored. He needs to develop depth, focus, and patience in order to use his considerable intelligence to the fullest.

Nimble and quick in both mind and body, he is likely to be "on" all of the time and he may not even want to stop to rest or eat. It can be hard to settle him down at bedtime and, especially during his early years, his sleep may be light, sporadic, and easily broken. Food is also not especially interesting to him. (Eating it, that is. He may love to play with it.)  Very likely he "eats like a bird," and he may need to be gently encouraged to eat regularly and substantially.

He is flexible, craves variety and novelty, and adapts well to change. He has a mischievous side and is quite fond of pranks and playing tricks. In fact you may find it difficult to get him to be serious and to stop fooling around. He can usually be coaxed out of a sour mood by the use of humor or silliness, and he cannot resist word-plays or puns. He is very witty himself, but he may be oblivious to the emotional impact his words have on others.

He is a child who can be reasoned with from a rather young age. Unless other factors in his chart indicate otherwise, he is not very emotional, and may be bewildered or frightened by great outbursts or displays of emotion in others. He is even likely to point out to you the inconsistencies in your line of reasoning!

Sun in 10th house:

Donald has a strong sense of destiny and a powerful ambition. He wants to achieve great things and put his own particular stamp on the world.  As a youngster, he may buck authority because his role in life is to be the Captain, not the crew.  His attitude is "I know what's good for me," which can be trying for parents, teachers, and others who try to advise or supervise him.

A strong desire to gain his father's approval and to make him proud of him is probably a guiding principle in his life (for good or for ill).

Sun Conjunct Uranus:

Donald has an independent, rebellious, and restless side that can be disruptive at times. He is likely to be contrary, to constantly question authority, and to resist rules of conduct imposed by others. Certainly he will chaff at restrictions and restraints, and he resents being dictated to.

Freedom is very important to him. He also likes to liven things up when they become too dull, and he is not adverse to creating controversy or taking an unconventional stance. He likes being unique, doing things in his own original or offbeat way, and there is a touch of the creative genius in him.

Sun Opposition Moon:

As you read the above interpretation of Donald's sun sign, and compare it to the description of his moon sign on the following page, you may note distinct differences and possibly contradictions. This is because there are different sides to him, and they may well conflict or pull him in opposite directions.

You will notice as he grows up that he befriends people who are very different or polar opposite to him in some basic ways. It is as if he needs other people to reflect the other side of him. (For instance, if he is very neat and precise, he will be drawn to people who are disorganized.)  Born around the time of the full moon, he is likely to be particularly active or strongly emotional each month when the moon is full.

Sun Sextile Mars:

Donald is quite lively and energetic, and he cannot tolerate being inactive or kept still for very long. He likes to be on the go. His health and vitality are quite strong, and he prefers outdoor activities and projects to quieter pastimes.

MERCURY

MERCURY represents thinking and reasoning processes, the way your child's mind works, his intellectual inclinations and way of communicating ideas.

Mercury in Cancer:

Donald's mind is like a sponge, quietly absorbing the thoughts and opinions of those around him, and he has a very retentive memory. He is very subjective in his opinions and perceptions of the world; he is more intuitive than linear and rational in his thinking.

Mercury in 11th house:

Donald loves to get together with friends to share ideas and common interests.  Hobby clubs with an intellectual bent, such as the chess club or Future Scientists of America, are his cup of tea.  Putting together a newsletter or a magazine with a bunch of other kids his age might be a satisfying activity.  Outside of structured activities, he enjoys just chatting or "shooting the breeze" with his friends.

Mercury Square Neptune:

Donald's imagination colors his perception so much that he may have trouble discriminating between fact and fantasy. A lack of mental clarity and a disinterest in the mundane or practical aspects of life may also be problems at times. He needs to be in an orderly, consistent, and well-organized environment in order to learn, and he should be encouraged to use his imagination in creative ways, such as writing stories or painting.

MOON

The MOON in the birthchart indicates how he deals with and expresses feelings, how he experiences the world on an emotional, feeling, non-verbal level, what his emotional needs are, and what he needs to feel secure, comfortable and at ease.

Moon in Sagittarius:

Donald has a generous, open friendliness about him, a buoyant optimism and cheerfulness, that is quite appealing. He has a natural self confidence that enables him to take risks and to leap headlong into the unknown with delightful and refreshing abandon. Even if he fails dismally, he is quite resilient, both emotionally and otherwise, and he is even inclined to be philosophical about it all.

Ever eager to explore his world, he heartily dislikes being restricted or held back in any way, and he does not readily understand what "off limits" means. He has a strong sense of adventure and usually responds well to new situations and people, especially if they appear to promise something new and exciting. He is flexible, adapts well to change, and is open to trying new things (like unusual foods) more than most children. (He may, in fact, have some rather sophisticated or exotic tastes.)  Unless he is getting sick or there is something really troubling him, he will not be a very clinging, dependent, needy child. In fact, you might wish he needed you more or was more of a cuddler. He has a sort of breezy independence, even at a young age.

Donald is likely to test your authority quite a lot, and though he definitely needs to know that there are firm rules and boundaries, he does not respond well to strong directives or commands. If you (respectfully!) ask him to comply with your wishes, he MIGHT. It is not that he is likely to openly rebel against your rules, but he will good-humoredly ignore them or go around them as much as he can, and no amount of sternness is likely to really change him. He is a very gregarious, sociable child, however, and not allowing him to see a playmate for a certain length of time can be very effective with him. Using humor to coax him out of a recalcitrant mood also works very well with him. He has a great sense of fun.

Moon in 4th house:

Donald will always be extremely attached to home and family, and he may seem to need a lot of emotional sustenance, especially from his mother (or female caregiver).  He retreats into his own private space--his bedroom or some other little nook--whenever he feels threatened.  Moving this "base of security"--to a new town or even a new home--can be quite upsetting and stressful for him.  At such times, he may temporarily regress to somewhat babyish behavior.

Moon Opposition Uranus:

Emotional self-control and consistency are not Donald's strong points . . . to say the least!  He needs a lot of freedom and cannot tolerate being restrained or restricted for too long. Formal, rigidly structured, or stuffy environments do not suit him, either. He is excitable, impulsive, restless, and rather high-strung at times. He likes offbeat, unusual people, and his tastes may strike you as rather odd.

Moon Sextile Jupiter:

Fun-loving, sociable, and friendly, Donald loves to entertain or to attend big social events where everyone is having a good time. He has a big heart and is very generous and open with his affections and his things.

He can be wasteful or sloppy, also, but he is so well-intentioned that it is hard to get angry with him.

VENUS

VENUS represents the way your child gives and receives affection, makes friends, and socializes. It also indicates artistic or creative inclinations.

Venus in Cancer:

A warm home, loving family relationships, and emotional closeness are extremely important to Donald. When he feels secure and loved, he is one of the most caring, sympathetic, and emotionally supportive children you could imagine. But, he will cling and be very possessive or jealous if he does not feel truly loved. He is inclined to have a few close friends that he cherishes rather than a lot of acquaintances.

Venus in 11th house:

Agreeable and happy in a social setting, Donald will be an asset to any group he joins.  He loves good company and usually is good company.  He cannot tolerate too much solitude; indeed, he wilts without friends and the pleasures of society and community.

Venus Conjunct Saturn:

Donald is rather restrained and careful about expressing affection, and he does not make friends easily. Because he is sensitive about being excluded or rejected, he may protect himself by being aloof. He is likely to have just a few close friends rather than a large social circle. He is drawn to adults or to children who are older than he is, as he often feels his peers are silly or immature.

MARS

MARS represents your child's drive, ambition, will, energy level, and ability to assert himself.

Mars in Leo:

Donald's vitality and energy level is high. He plays hard and he plays to win. Losing or being second are intolerable to him, especially while he is young. His will and determination are formidable!

Mars in 12th house:

Asserting his own will or winning at the expense of someone else doesn't come easily or naturally to Donald.  He may bottle up his aggressive energies, causing him to feel very vulnerable or suffer from a lack of self-confidence.  He may also act covertly rather than openly and directly.  He prefers to work behind the scenes, but he needs to be encouraged to overcome his hesitancy and his fears about asserting himself.  He should not, however, be pushed into becoming more outgoing than his natural tendencies allow.

JUPITER

JUPITER in the birth chart reveals the child's future aspirations, and how he seeks to grow and improve himself.  It also indicates areas of natural confidence, success, or "luck."

Jupiter in Libra:

Broadminded tolerance and an idealistic concern for fairness, equality, and "everyone getting a chance" are among Donald's character assets.  One benefit of this is that he simply gets along with people very well; other people--especially teachers and others in the broader social world--like him and want to help him.  He tends to be the peacemaker among his friends, and can be appealed to through his strong sense of fairness and balance. ("You got to ride in the front seat yesterday; it's his turn today.")  He's very personable and considerate, and he wants to be treated as a friend, even by older relatives or adults he sees frequently.  He seeks to grow through these friendly alliances with other people.

Donald is apt to be very "lucky", escpecially when he trusts his instincts and intuition.

SATURN

The position of SATURN in your child's birth chart indicates the areas in which he is especially insecure, about which he is most serious, and/or in which he works hardest or is hardest on himself.  It also reveals those weaknesses which, through effort, may become his greatest strengths.

Saturn in Cancer:

Donald may hate being called a baby and will work hard to overcome his dependencies and neediness.  Sometimes he'll be afraid to show others how much he cares and how much he does need them.  Secretly, he feels very vulnerable and worries that he doesn't belong, that he's a burden, or that his place in the family is not altogether secure.  Massive doses of unconditional love, acceptance and support can offset this--the kind of love that comes with no strings attached.

Donald also takes responsibility for whatever goes on in the family circle and is particularly prone to guilt.  It's very important to allow him to be a child and not thrust him into the role of caretaker for others in the family.  He'll accept the job, but it will be a heavy load and he'll do anything to escape it when he's older.  If, on the other hand, his home life is stable and comfortable, he's likely to make home and family his fortress, a place so protected and safe that he may be reluctant to venture far from it.

Saturn in 11th house:

Donald is apt to close down or become a little insecure in groups, but he's at ease with close friends, with whom he interacts singly or in groups of two or three.  Larger social events, at which he feels unable to fit in or lonely amid the crowd, will be very stressful for him until he finds his own niche.

MOON'S NODES

The Lunar Nodes are points formed by the moon's orbit around the Earth intersecting with the Earth's path around the Sun. These sensitive "power points" in our child's chart give vital information about those areas of life experience that he will instinctively be drawn to in order to fulfill his life purposes, as well as qualities he needs to develop and express in order to do so. They show where he can be most successful as he unfolds his natural talent

North Node in 10th House in Gemini:

Donald's life path involves rising to prominence, coming into the public eye, attracting attention and receiving recognition for what he does. His life path requires that he become visible and active in the world in some way influencing, shaping, and contributing to the greater good. There may seem to be an element of luck, of being in the right place at the right time, and he's instinctively drawn to influential people (as they are to him, but having a strong, supportive foundation to fuel his aspirations is certainly as important. He needs to be encouraged to participate and put himself out into the world.

The qualities Donald needs in order to succeed in this endeavor are curiosity, openness to new ideas and experiences, and the willingness to learn from everyone and everything.

GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES

The slow-moving planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto represent the ideals, changes, and impulses of an entire generation. While the descriptions below may or may not describe your child as an individual, they will tell you about the climate of the times and the underlying issues and challenges of your child's age group.

For instance, when Neptune (which represents one's spiritual ideals, dreams, aspirations, fantasies and illusions) passed through the egalitarian and harmony-loving sign of Libra (from 1943-1957), the children who would grow into the "flower children," hippies, and supporters of the peace movement were born. Not every person born during that time became a hippie or identified themselves with the peace movement, but certainly they were affected by the feeling-tone and ideals of their age group and the times they grew up in. Thus, the following information is intended to give you insight into the important motifs and issues of your child's generation.

URANUS indicates where the impulse for change, innovation, liberation from the past, and experimentation with new forms is the strongest. It is where the status quo is disrupted or uprooted to make way for something new. Sudden inspiration and invention are also represented by Uranus.

Uranus in Gemini:

This is a restless and unusually flexible and tolerant group. Many of them will form unusual friendships and are interested in people who are very different from them culturally, ethnically, or in other ways. There is a strong streak of mischief in them and sometimes they like to break rules just to see what will happen. They will experiment with adrogyny and the creative blending of male and female characteristics. This may show up as an early disinterest in gender differences.

Uranus in 10th house:

Donald's unconventionality and nonconformity are very visible and obvious.  Her role models and heroes are apt to be antiheroes, mavericks, who go their own way, or he may be following in the footprints of an unorthodox parent.  His aspirations are not for a secure, steady life or for success at the expense of authenticity and personal freedom.  Instead, he aims to fashion an unusual, eclectic, creative life.  And he may just make a significant social contribution in the bargain.

NEPTUNE represents the quest for the ideal, the dream, for something more sublime. The sign it is passing through at the time of one's birth colors one's spiritual aspirations and ideals, and also indicates where the desire to escape reality, to fantasize, deceive oneself, and become lost in illusion is the strongest.

Neptune in Libra:

This group idealizes harmony, cooperation, "peace and love", and may be unrealistic in their hopes for a world where everyone gets along. As a group they tend to avoid the grittier side of life or to be deeply disillusioned when they encounter it. They also idealize romantic love and relationship, and may search for the "perfect lover".

Neptune in 2nd house:

Donald is not a very materialistic person at heart, and may be wholly impractical when it comes to money and/or taking care of his belongings.  He can be generous to a fault and give away his things if he believes another person could use them.  It would be wise to encourage balance, moderation, and responsibility in this area, while not squelching his compassionate impulses.  How the world functions in practical terms is likely to be something of a mystery to him and it would be quite helpful if he is taught some of the basics while she is young.

PLUTO in the birth chart indicates a process of deep change, transformation, and renewal, often through destruction or confrontation with darkness.  This is a process that takes place in society as well as in individuals.  Pluto's position in the birth chart shows where one is compulsive, extreme, or learning key life lessons.

Pluto in Leo:

Those born during this cycle have major issues with authority, personal power, and learning to balance the energies of the heart. They are apt to go to extremes in their quest to fulfill their own unique destinies. Many of them have royal expectations, which can draw out the best or the worst in them.

Pluto in 12th house:

Donald's obsessions tend to be quiet and hidden, as he is profoundly private, even secretive at times. He needs quite alot of space for deep introspection, and may be lonely at times, but he shouldn't be shamed for that or forced into sociability when he isn't interested.  He may well be the one people confide in, take their troubles to, or trust with their vulnerabilities.

This astrological portrait of your child is intended to give you insight into his unique gifts and challenges. Much of a child's behavior which may puzzle or stymie his parents are quite normal, common "developmental stages" of childhood, and there are a number of fine books available on the subject which illuminate the predictable stages that children experience as they unfold. In addition to the universal patterns, each child is an individual with particular qualities, potentials, and needs, and an understanding of these can help you parent your child more wisely and effectively. Acceptance and appreciation for a child's basic nature, and an awareness of the places where there might be stress or difficulties for your child, can be important allies in your parenting.

You will find that the interpretation of your child's chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then he exhibits these opposite qualities at different times in his life. For example, a statement that he is highly sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each other; this means that he vacillates, and needs both sociability and solitude at different times.
