Kate's Partial Kiddiegram: Catherine Duchess of Cambridge

"A good heart...is the sun and moon"

Although we have Will's full Kiddiegram, Mlle Kiddie can only do a partial Kiddiegram for
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge because she doesn't have the precise time of her birth.
The chart wheel shown below, with Sun on the Ascendant is a guesstimate horoscope wheel.

INTRODUCTION

Here is Kate's Guesstimate Kiddiegram Chart Wheel, with Sun on The Ascendant

SUN

The SUN in the birthchart represents who this child is at heart, her primary thrust in life, and what path she needs to follow in order to fulfill herself as a unique individual. It indicates who she is inside rather than the way she appears (which is shown more clearly by the Rising Sign).

Sun in Capricorn:

At heart, Kate is a rather cautious, conservative person with a maturity and conscientiousness that makes her seem more like an adult than a child at times. She has a part of clear-eyed realism and practical sense that will surely enable her to successfully make her way in the world when she is older, but which can seem out of place in the world of make-believe, "pretend" games of fairies, princes, and dragons, and other types of imaginative play that many children enjoy. Actually, she prefers the real world to fantasy, and she prefers pastimes and playthings that correspond to the adult world:  a doctor kit, a set of miniature tools, small dishes and pots and pans, building blocks, etc. Setting up a little shop with play money and merchandise may be especially entertaining for her, and you are unlikely to meet a more responsible little businessperson!

Also atypical of many children, Kate actually enjoys being given responsibilities and chores, and for the most part, she can be relied upon to carry them out. She will work hard at school or around the house. Her self-discipline and ability to concentrate and apply herself to her tasks is considerable. Sometimes she takes it all too seriously, however, and if she feels others are depending on her or expect high achievement of her, she can easily become burdened with an inordinate sense of obligation. While she does need to do things that give her a sense of solid accomplishment and to see concrete results for her efforts, she also sometimes needs to be reminded to enjoy herself, and not to be so hard and demanding of herself. She is likely to be her own worst critic, and she needs a lot of unconditional acceptance and warmth from her parents to help her keep her perspective.

Kate tends to emulate the adults in her life, and to respect their capabilities, wisdom, and authority. She likes the security of having a clearly defined set of rules and boundaries, and she does not eagerly embrace new ways or new people. It takes time for her to warm up or be willing to trust someone. She needs to watch quietly for awhile. She may need to be encouraged to take risks and to express herself freely. Try to convey to her that it is all right to make mistakes and to be a little foolish sometimes!

Sun Opposition Moon:

As you read the above interpretation of Kate's sun sign, and compare it to the description of her moon sign on the following page, you may note distinct differences and possibly contradictions. This is because there are different sides to her, and they may well conflict or pull her in opposite directions.

You will notice as she grows up that she befriends people who are very different or polar opposite to her in some basic ways. It is as if she needs other people to reflect the other side of her. (For instance, if she is very neat and precise, she will be drawn to people who are disorganized.)  Born around the time of the full moon, she is likely to be particularly active or strongly emotional each month when the moon is full.

Sun Square Saturn:

Kate needs a lot of warmth and loving acceptance from her parents, as she tends to be entirely too hard on herself, and to feel that others expect too much from her as well.

She may become rather rigid and self-restrained, as if she is afraid to step out of line or do the wrong thing, especially if she is raised with strict discipline or with high expectations and standards of conduct.

Kate seems to need to prove her worth to herself and others, rather than feeling that she is okay the way she is.

She feels good when she is learning and mastering practical or technical skills, or doing something useful. She has very good concentration.

MERCURY

MERCURY represents thinking and reasoning processes, the way your child's mind works, her intellectual inclinations and way of communicating ideas.

Mercury in Aquarius:

Forward-looking and progressive in her thinking, Kate is interested in the latest scientific discoveries, new technologies, and the most daring, original, and experimental ideas in any area she studies. She also has an idealistic frame of mind, and is likely to be stubbornly opinionated on many topics.

Mercury Conjunct Venus:

Kate is persuasive in a charming and gracious way. She is a natural diplomat and peace-maker, and she likes to bring people together socially.

She also uses words well and enjoys "painting pictures with words."  Literature and poetry are likely to be pronounced interests of hers.

Mercury Square Jupiter:

Kate may have trouble focusing on details, specifics, and the technical aspect of any subject. Her study habits may be sloppy, and disciplining her mind to concentrate for long periods of time does not come easily to her. She does enjoy learning through discussion, direct experience, and meeting people from foreign cultures. A strong interest in traveling, philosophy, religion, or other subjects that give one a long-range perspective is likely.

Mercury Trine Mars:

Sharp-witted and quick at repartee, Kate enjoys lively discussion, debates, or intellectual sparring. She excels at games that require both skill and intelligence. She is likely to be quarrelsome, especially when she is bored.

Mercury Sextile Uranus:

Kate is a free-thinker and is interested in new ideas, new technologies, scientific discoveries, and the most daring or radically new theories. She grasps new concepts quickly, but she is inclined to change her mind suddenly or to get bored and suddenly drop a subject.

MOON

The MOON in the birthchart indicates how she deals with and expresses feelings, how she experiences the world on an emotional, feeling, non-verbal level, what her emotional needs are, and what she needs to feel secure, comfortable and at ease.

Moon in Cancer:

Moody, sympathetic, very sensitive and easily hurt, tender-hearted, emotional, and responsive to the feelings and emotions of everyone in her environment, Kate needs a very supportive and stable home-base in order to feel secure within herself. A quiet understanding and acceptance of her tears and her feelings of hurt, fearfulness, sadness, or other emotions will help her deal with her sometimes overwhelming feelings. Allowing her periods to withdraw into her room and to avoid social contacts, or even to mope around, is also important.

Kate has an especially close emotional and psychic tie to her mother, and she feels very strongly whatever her mother is feeling, whether Mother is outwardly expressing herself or not. Kate's intuitive perception and sensitivity is very pronounced, particularly to those closest to her. In later life, she is apt to become overly dependent on friends, spouses, or her own children, unless she has had a very warm and solid relationship with her mother.

Being at home and engaging in domestic activities such as cooking, caring for pets, and so on, gives her a lot of satisfaction. Food may be very important to her, a symbol of nurturing, belonging, being close, receiving and giving love. She is likely to have stomach aches or digestive upsets when she is tense, worried, or when her sense of safety is threatened.

Kate also has a strong affinity for water, and finds living near a lake or ocean gives her a great sense of peace. Music, also, has a strong impact on Kate's sense of well-being, and choosing quieting, soothing, or uplifting pieces to play at bedtime can be very effective with her.

Making changes or emotional adjustments can be quite difficult for her, and she needs a lot of "babying" and reassurance during times of transition. She may even regress in her behavior for awhile, or become very withdrawn, but rest assured that it is only a temporary coping device for her.

Moon Square Mars:

Kate has a rather quick temper. Sudden outbursts and rash actions based on impulse, emotion, and the heat of the moment may be common occurrences. Her anger is likely to be short-lived, however, if she is allowed to express it rather than stifle it. She needs to learn acceptable outlets for her feelings (i.e. "You can smash the pillow, but not your little brother. . ."). Martial arts may be an excellent way for her to learn to channel and direct her strong feelings.

VENUS

VENUS represents the way your child gives and receives affection, makes friends, and socializes. It also indicates artistic or creative inclinations.

Venus in Aquarius:

Kate likes to have a variety of friends and is attracted to people who are unusual or different from her in some way. She is very fair and dislikes prejudice. She will especially enjoy making friends in clubs or organizations that have some common interest, ideal, or goal as their focus.

Venus Square Jupiter:

Kate has a cheerful, friendly, generous disposition that wins her many friends. She is sociable and loves to entertain and have a lot of her friends around. She also has a taste for quality or luxury, and she is inclined to overindulge in comforts, festivities, and good times.

Venus Trine Mars:

Kate has a great appreciation for beauty, and she also has the drive to create or make art. There is much warmth and love within her that she needs to find ways to express and share with others.

MARS

MARS represents your child's drive, ambition, will, energy level, and ability to assert herself.

Mars in Libra:

Kate hesitates to act decisively and assertively unless she has the support and approval of others. Sometimes she is very pushy or argumentative in her effort to get others to agree with her and give her the go-ahead.

JUPITER

JUPITER in the birth chart reveals the child's future aspirations, and how she seeks to grow and improve herself.  It also indicates areas of natural confidence, success, or "luck."

Jupiter in Scorpio:

Daring activities which have an element of danger or mystery appeal to Kate.  She wants to live fully and passionately and not hold herself back from anything life has to offer.  From rock climbing to scuba diving or investigating caves or other out-of-the-way places, she thrives on challenge.  She seeks to grow through delving into the mysteries of life.

She's also extremely resourceful and has a "nose" for opportunities.  Even when she's a youngster, her shrewd judgment of people and situations will serve her well.

SATURN

The position of SATURN in your child's birth chart indicates the areas in which she is especially insecure, about which she is most serious, and/or in which she works hardest or is hardest on herself.  It also reveals those weaknesses which, through effort, may become her greatest strengths.

Saturn in Libra:

Because Kate often feels that even insignificant choices and decisions are heavy matters, she can have difficulty making decisions.  She gets caught up in sifting, weighing, balancing, and comparing.  Pressing her to reach a conclusion before she had time to consider the various options distresses her, so on minor matters it may be easiest for parents to decide what's best.

Kate also frequently feels that caring for other people is a big responsibility.  If she's given the task of caring for a younger sibling or doing some errand or household job for a parent, she'll try her best, but she won't enjoy it much.  The responsibility will weigh on her, though she may not say so.  She takes arguments between other people quite seriously, and she won't readily forgive a broken promise--even if it was given on the most tentative basis.  She has very strict inner rules about how people "should" behave toward one another, and if a friend disappoints her, she may withdraw from the relationship.  In fact, she'll sometimes feel that other people are just too much trouble.  She may seesaw between feeling lonely and wanting to be left alone.

On the positive side, she has a strong, impartial sense of fairness, and great dedication to fulfilling commitments and obligations toward others.  On the negative side, she'll sometimes feel misunderstood, disappointed, and burdened by the need to cooperate with other people.

Saturn Conjunct Pluto:

Kate has an unusual degree of tenacity and the capacity to endure very difficult conditions.  She and many of the children born the same year have an innate toughness that may be surprising.  Kate will work extraordinarily hard and often feels like she's been left with the dirty, disagreeable work.  Nevertheless she wont flinch or evade it.  She could have a rather cynical view of the world at times also.

Saturn Sextile Neptune:

Kate's obstacles or insecurities can sometimes be allayed by spending time in quiet surroundings or in nature. She fills up her inner well of strength by taking a little time out.  This is a child who would probably enjoy practicing yoga or tai chi, also.

GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES

The slow-moving planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto represent the ideals, changes, and impulses of an entire generation. While the descriptions below may or may not describe your child as an individual, they will tell you about the climate of the times and the underlying issues and challenges of your child's age group.

For instance, when Neptune (which represents one's spiritual ideals, dreams, aspirations, fantasies and illusions) passed through the egalitarian and harmony-loving sign of Libra (from 1943-1957), the children who would grow into the "flower children," hippies, and supporters of the peace movement were born. Not every person born during that time became a hippie or identified themselves with the peace movement, but certainly they were affected by the feeling-tone and ideals of their age group and the times they grew up in. Thus, the following information is intended to give you insight into the important motifs and issues of your child's generation.

URANUS indicates where the impulse for change, innovation, liberation from the past, and experimentation with new forms is the strongest. It is where the status quo is disrupted or uprooted to make way for something new. Sudden inspiration and invention are also represented by Uranus.

Uranus in Sagittarius:

This age group (1981-1988) will make radical departures from established philosophies, ideals, religious traditions, and old ways of learning and understanding the world. The higher educational system will be upset and changed by these people. The drive for further knowledge, new frontiers and discovery make space exploration important to them.

They are highly adventurous, enterprising, daring, and sometimes foolhardy in their quest for new understanding. Their new concepts and philosophies may be a little bizarre, or at least seem to be at first. They are great lovers of freedom, also.

NEPTUNE represents the quest for the ideal, the dream, for something more sublime. The sign it is passing through at the time of one's birth colors one's spiritual aspirations and ideals, and also indicates where the desire to escape reality, to fantasize, deceive oneself, and become lost in illusion is the strongest.

Neptune in Sagittarius:

Tremendous idealism, far-reaching vision, and a wide-open, expanded outlook on life characterize this age group (1970-1984). They believe that anything is possible and often overlook the immediate, obvious, and practical realities of a situation in their quest for something grander, freer, or more encompassing. Ungrounded speculation, airy fantasy, and the tendency to idealize whatever is foreign, faraway, or unattainable are the pitfalls of this age group. However, since their minds are not prematurely set and closed to new possibilities, they are likely to discover truths that more earth-bound minds would never see.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

Those born during this generation have the opportunity to advance spirituality and a consciousness of unity, universality, and brother/sisterhood.  Only a few individuals may heed the call, but many will be influenced by them.

PLUTO in the birth chart indicates a process of deep change, transformation, and renewal, often through destruction or confrontation with darkness.  This is a process that takes place in society as well as in individuals.  Pluto's position in the birth chart shows where one is compulsive, extreme, or learning key life lessons.

Pluto in Libra:

Marriage and/or personal relationships tend to be obsessions with those in this age group (born 1971-1984), and equality, justice, and fair treatment in those relationships are passionate concerns. An awareness of the inevitability and need for continual change within a relationship may make them cautious about making permanent commitments. However, the need to experience deep connectedness and relatedness also compels them. Overcoming dependencies, fears, and resistances to deep sharing are major challenges for them.

This astrological portrait of your child is intended to give you insight into her unique gifts and challenges. Much of a child's behavior which may puzzle or stymie her parents are quite normal, common "developmental stages" of childhood, and there are a number of fine books available on the subject which illuminate the predictable stages that children experience as they unfold. In addition to the universal patterns, each child is an individual with particular qualities, potentials, and needs, and an understanding of these can help you parent your child more wisely and effectively. Acceptance and appreciation for a child's basic nature, and an awareness of the places where there might be stress or difficulties for your child, can be important allies in your parenting.

You will find that the interpretation of your child's chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then she exhibits these opposite qualities at different times in her life. For example, a statement that she is highly sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each other; this means that she vacillates, and needs both sociability and solitude at different times.
